Next Dr. Sketchy’s – September 26

If you made it to last month’s Dr. Sketchy’s PDX, you’ll know that our themed events are not to be missed. This month, we team up with Portland’s ALTER EGOS SOCIETY to bring you two hot alternative models with potent secret identities.

The Alter Egos Society is a group of do-gooders (and do-evillers) who dress as heroes or villains in a series of charity events throughout the year for the good of all mankind. Next month, they’re throwing a “Ceasefire” party for which even us mild-mannered citizens can dress in capes and masks to drink, party, benefit homeless youth, and help bury the hatchet between heroes and villains. But this month, the rivalry rages on.

This SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH, sharpen your pencils and wet your inkwells: our featured models will be the dark knight of Portland costume events, SHADS BAT, and the first lady of geek chic burlesque, Miss GEEKY VON TEESE.

They’ll model as their alter-egos and strip down for a 3 hour session of figure drawing, superhero-style.

Artists of all experience levels are welcome – come, have a drink and try your hand at some art. We’ll have basic art supplies for the adventuresome amateur, and, of course, you more-seasoned pros can bring your own. As always, we mix your art education with a healthy dose of fun & sexy, and we charge just $10 at the door.

Location: Mother Maybel’s, 510 NE 28th Ave, Portland, OR 97232

Admission is $10 at the door. Bring your own art supplies. No photography please

Runfrior – June 27

Runifor was beautiful, youthful, and excited to pose for everyone on Sunday, June 27, 2010.

The artists in attendance were even more excited that we provided a beautiful, youthful, excited model for them to draw on Sunday, June 27, 2010.

It all went down at Mother Maybel’s Martini’s & Spirits on (you guessed it) Sunday, June 27, 2010. At 7:00 PM, Portland’s finest Art Monkeys  gathered for 3 hours of figure drawing at the Portland branch of world-renowned Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School.

Kitten DeVille – May 23

The May 23, 2010 session of the Portland branch of DR. SKETCHY’S ANTI-ART SCHOOL is in the history books.

Through a special partnership with Portland burlesque revue THE ROYAL TEASE, we were able to feature  “The Living Embodiment of Burlesque” – the stunning and (literally) infamous KITTEN DEVILLE.

Yes, that’s right. The one and only Miss Kitten DeVille was in Portland to perform at the May 22nd Royal Tease, and she stuck around to model for Sketchy PDX Art Monkeys with their eager eyes and perspicacious pencils in the 3rd-floor Speakeasy at BOSSANOVA BALLROOM.

Dr. Sketchy’s Portland is presented by Baby Tattoo Books and Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School.

Founded in 2005 by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy’s asked a simple question: Why can’t drawing naked people be sexy? The answer is… it can. Dr. Sketchy’s live figure drawing provides a unique opportunity for artists and art lovers to gather on a regular basis to create and celebrate art in a creative environment.

Stumptown – April 25

Were you at the Stumptown Comics Fest April 24 & 25? Dr. Sketchy’s Portland was.

Saturday, April 24, in the Lloyd Center Doubletree Hotel, artists and aspiring artists, spent a relaxing hour off the convention floor and did some drawing. We provided a beautiful model in an elaborate costume; Muse Art & Design provided art supplies. This special all-ages session featured NYC’s sultry siren of burlesque, Miss Harvest Moon.

Sunday, April 25, before the Fest became but a fond memory, in-the-know Art Monkeys headed over to the upstairs lounge at the Bossanova Ballroom (722 E. Burnside) for Portland’s monthly Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School session with Miss Harvest Moon. This Dr. Sketchy’s event was part of the Stumptown Volunteer Appreciation and After-Fest Party with DJ Paul Pope.
